The following was originally published at My blog dated June 20, 2009 at http://learningwithtechnology-vincent.blogspot.com/2009/06/millionth-english-word-web20.html
I am one of the many who has contributed to the first millionth English word. Reviewing my blog, I have posted 3 tagging of "web2.0". In my del.icio.us, I have defineded 20 tagging of using "web2.0". I never think of making a record by individual contribution. However, this is what the principle behind "web2.0", everyone can contribute, share and at the end, knowledge is constructed. Now web2.0 is collaboratively constructed as the millionth English word. Great.
Web 2.0 was constructed in response to traditional Internet, browsing websites and getting information were defined as Web 1.0.
Web 1.0 is about getting resources from Internet, or traditionally we called it knowledge transmission.
Web 2.0 is about sharing, contribution and collaboartion. Users can and are willing to share, constribute and collaborate with others to contruct knowledge through technology supported platform.
Special features on web 2.0 include tages, rss, freeware and opensoureces.
How about Facebook and Twitter? Are these in between Web 2.0 and 3.0 ? Twitter is using a kind of RSS technology to push news to people.
Web 2.0 gives everyone the right to contribute their own knowledge to the Internet. It will replace the traditional one in the future.
