RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is developed along with Podcasting. Nowadays a lot of websites like to have a button called "rss". Rss means to subscribe the latest information of the website. After finishing the subscription, whatever there is updating on the website, the updated information will be sent to the subscriber.
Applications of RSS include subcription to online newspaper contents, Library new material lists, etc. ... or just about anything where you see the small orange RSS icon for subscription.
I can also update my wiki, with rss, my moodle course can subscribe to view all the updating.
